I'm the luckiest girl alive!
At first being an intern, every new thing you do and everything you learn is an exciting experience. You do things you’ve never dreamed of, and you feel like the luckiest person alive; being able to work with great people in an incredible environment.
And as your time goes on, how do you keep this momentum going? I’ll admit, trying to juggle school and separate jobs is no easy task, and it is incredibly easy to lose sight and focus of the work that you have signed up to do. I think that this phase is the hardest of all…
Not necessarily the new kid, but not the hot shot millionaire intern, it can be an odd transition to move into the next phase and though I haven’t lost any desire to keep doing what I do, I will be the first to admit that I have lost focus with the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The wonderful part of this company however is the flexibility and constant reminder that what you put in is exactly what you get out of it as well. And though I won’t get a mug of coffee thrown in my face for not being around as often, I know that I am doing myself a disservice by being around less….thank God for summer!!
The key is, whether interning here or anywhere else, keep your eye on the prize. Even in such a money crazed society, a prize is the end goal you have for yourself as an intern. Whether it be finishing your assigned project on a deadline, getting steady employment, or honing your techniques as an artist, the most important thing you can do for yourself is to never stop learning and always have new and forming goals as you progress and move up the ladder.
Interning here is incredible, and even all of us get clouded vision or a little too busy sometimes. But I think the valuable thing to keep in mind is that this company is growing too, and dealing with the same bumps a long the road that everyone learning something new encounters. All I know is that I want to be a part of this continuous upward growth, and ride out the road bumps as smoothly as I can along the way.
